The Importance of Online Security

Online security is an important topic when it comes to working, playing, and shopping online. Most people do not realize just how easily a hacker can obtain your personal information, either from activities online or from the files saved on any computer’s hard drive. In fact, only about 14% of identity theft from computers takes place online. The rest of it happens when someone gets access to the hard drive.

So how can you protect your computer whenever you are online or offline? Your first line of defense should be a firewall. Firewall downloads offer your computer a certain amount of protection from incoming files, viruses, and other threats from the internet. You can choose how low or high you want your settings on your firewall. Read the rest of this entry »

The New and Innovative Nokia N97

nokia-n97One of Nokia’s latest phones, the Nokia N97 that they boast as being the “world’s most advanced mobile computer” is truly a marvel to behold. The Nokia N97 has a 3.5-inch, 640 x 360 pixel touch screen display that rivals even the Iphone’s display.

However unlike the iphone it also boasts a QWERTY keyboard which is handy for those text messages, instant messages, and emails you may be sending. Hidden behind a 4.3-inch touchscreen there’s a full slide-down QWERTY keyboard, together with WiFi b/g, Bluetooth 2.0 and - its crowning glory - WiMAX.

Ironically, given the state of WiMAX availability in the US right now, integrating it into the SWD-M100 smacks both of foresight and foolishness. Frankly an HSDPA connection would be more useful, but at least if Samsung can bring it to market sooner rather than later it might make a fitting replacement to the recently-retired Nokia N810 WiMAX Edition Internet Tablet. T-Mobile UK have released a list of the top ten most popular Android applications, as downloaded to the T-Mobile G1 by users in the UK. A similar list, for US downloads, was published back in December 2008. Google recently announced an update to the Android Market, which will allow developers to charge for their applications rather than give them away free. It’s expected that this will drive coding for the Android platform. Read the rest of this entry »
